🥚 Monarch EGGS❣️ + Raise The Migration 2025...
Which Milkweed did Mama leave her first eggs on in 2025?
Happy 🐫 Day Royal RAISEr,
I hope your’e enjoying the first days of June. A lot has happened since your last newsletter. 🌿🥚🦋
Last Thursday, we collected the first monarch eggs from our Minnesota garden! 8 total eggs on common milkweed (1), butterfly weed (2) and tropical milkweed (5).

I saw a second female floating about Sunday, but have not patrolled the garden to look for more eggs.
8 monarchs will be the perfect number to test our indoor and outdoor raising setups before we finalize the new Raise The Migration Course for 2025 and beyond…

Raise The Migration 2025 Course
All of the Raise the Migration material will now be inside a course platform for your convenience. This raising course will be available at a discounted price (this season only) for a one time fee of $49 with free future updates.
The raising blog and raising supply shop will be shut down when our inventory sells out sometime in 2025, but not sure of the exact date yet. Some of the raising content will be moved to our Monarch Butterfly Garden blog, but the course platform will have all of the info organized in sections, and is where regular updates will occur going forward. I will be sure to update you in this newsletter as we have more details…
This year we will be presenting both indoor and outdoor raising setups for your convenience. In case you missed the info about our new outdoor setup from the last newsletter…
OUTDOOR Set Up 🏡
Although there are some serious potential issues with raising monarchs outdoors (weather, predators), I understand that raising indoors isn’t a viable solution for everyone, so we’re working on improving our outside system so we can match our indoor survival rate raising forward. First, here’s a photo of the new outdoor setup:
This new outdoor set up should solve potential issues with extreme elements like wind/rain, and the cover provides an extra protective barrier for any curious predators that might try to access the tall baby cage (wasps, lizards, mice, birds, etc)
We can comfortably fit two of our tall baby cages (14” by 14” by 24”) or baby cube cages (14” by 14” by 14”) inside this raised bed fortress.
The cart also has wheels (with 2 locks) so we can easily move it around the deck and keep it secure. Also, if we decide that we don’t like this set up, we can use it for its intended use later…a raised bed for plants!
In fact, you could also try planting milkweed in the raised bed…however, if any predator somehow penetrates the first-net defense, your caterpillars will be defenseless. It would also be more difficult to clean/disinfect with a traditional raised bed set up.
We will compare this new outdoor setup to our current indoor setup and compare results. More details on this outdoor setup during our upcoming Raise The Migration 2025 event.
Check out today’s pictured setup items below….
