How to Increase Monarch EGG Survival Rate❓🥚☠️ 😰
Happy Weekend Royal RAISEr,
I hope it’s been a good week. Our common milkweed patch is thriving in the summer rains and we’ve had lots of egg laying in the garden…especially around the deck where we prepared the milkweed plants for mama! 🌿🦋
In your last newsletter, I shared tips for FINDING those elusive monarch eggs in the garden. In this edition, we discuss how to carefully collect the eggs, and care for them until hatching. 🥚🤗
Raise The Migration: PROTECT Monarch Eggs 🌿🦋
Today your eggs-citing adventure continues as we learn how to gather and protect impossibly-tiny monarch eggs. 🥚🔍
This seems to be a problem-area for many raisers, because the eggs are about the size of a pin head, and easy to lose in the wrong containers.
There are two methods we use to hatch eggs with great success:
1. food containers (provide a superior and ultra-safe hatching environment)
2. floral tube hatching (this option can only be used if you harvest the right egg-upied leaf or stem cutting)
Using other methods, raisers have reported issues with leaves drying out too quickly, or having a very difficult time keeping track of baby hatchlings. 🐛🐛🐛😱
The methods listed above have eliminated those issues for us, and I hope they will do the same for you...
If you have struggled through the egg stage, this could help you turn that frown sunny side up.😊 Check out the updated blog post below for info on how to collect eggs and help them thrive on the path to butterhood:

What's Up Next? 🧐
We will continue with info about caring for baby caterpillars and transferring them into their new mesh homes 🦋🦋🤔
